Laura replied: 5 Aug 23 at 16:07
Yes there is a video alongside the Maddie Rag Doll project on this site. She is slightly different to the one in the book so just be aware when watching.

Hi all Please could someone explain the reasoning / aim/ end result that goes with the Block of the Month. I expect I am being extremely dense, but, apart from looking gorgeous is there any other end result in view please? Thanks Judi
Blodwen replied: 8 Aug 23 at 20:30
I am doing it for the first time and really enjoying making the block each month. Unfortunately once I had done both corner blocks and joined them to the end pieces I realised that the block was not the size it should have been, it was smaller. All my other blocks came out bigger so it means when I put the sashing on and match up the blocks to the first block I have to cut them smaller too so I am losing all my points. It looks nice but I know it?s wrong but it?s a learning curve and I intend to do more quilts. Try it, it?s fun.

Hello I made the little storage bag from Sunday - I had patterned lining and it turned out the wrong way. I can't remember which way I attached it to the zip, but it was wrong! Is it right sides together sandwiching in the zip? I'd love to make another one but don't want to get it wrong again! Thanks in advance.

Thanks Laura. I?ll give it another try today.

Hello everyone, If I make a messenger/crossbody bag from faux leather, what stabiliser should I use please?
Laura replied: 5 Aug 23 at 10:28
I would probably use H640 or H630 depending on the faux leather and whether I was using a coordinating fabric. Debbie explains some tips when working with faux leather here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lWLmt0lC9rQ Hope this helps.

We have checked and if you have cut the fabric for the incorrect original pattern piece: "there should be enough to re-cut the squares to the correct size in Block 8. After that, FAB7 is only used in Block 11 which requires 1 x 5 1/4" square, 2 x 2 7/8" sq and 2 x 2 1/2" sq."

No question but just saying I have been in the club since it began and I thoroughly love it. I love to watch the programmes on Wed and Sat and all the banter that goes on, keep up the brilliant work. lots of love Olive Ann Jones (OHJAY) xxx

Hello - just an update, the six 2 7/8in squares in FAB7, for Block 8 of the BOTM quilt, should be converted to 7.5cm squares, not 6cm squares. The project is being updated now.

Just cutting latest block for quilt out and think there is a miss print. It says six 7/8 squares in fab 7 , should this be six 2&7/8 same as the wW.

Sorry it?s me again about this months block of the month the photo on step 5 is wrong for the middle row when you look at finished block I see my unpicked coming out
HYSC replied: 3 Aug 23 at 09:07
Hi Adele - we are looking at this now!

I'm confused. According to the newsletter the projects that are coming down this month are Maddie and Robyn's Christmas outfits, but these are both from November 2020 and the other two projects are from 2019. Shouldn't it be the laptop bag and draught excluder that are coming down and need qr codes?
BW replied: 3 Aug 23 at 18:07
Ah , that makes sense, I thought it was me being daft.

Not a question but just noticed for the first time this evening how wonderful the colour and design symmetry is with our block of the month quilt. If you look at the photo of the finished quilt and compare the end of row and opposites on the diagonal it's so clever, almost like colour negative images if that was a real thing!
Jillian replied: 11 Aug 23 at 15:50
Yes, I'm only appreciating the design now too. It's very clever!

I'm way behind with our block of the month, haven't started any have just downloaded the instructions for July and August. I haven't started the wadding or sashing or anything, though I did download the instructions. I know that I can catch up in September. Anyway. I was dismayed to see that the July block is EPP as I have arthritis. I think I will probably just do a completely new block as it's the centrepiece. Has anyone else done this? I can machine sew gently curves like 1 and 13 or do corn HSTs or whatever in the corners using the same colours. What is everyone's opinion please?
Brenda replied: 2 Aug 23 at 10:43
I?ve really enjoyed making this and I am pleased with my results until I started July. I?ve never done EPP before and it was a bit tricky to get the curves right. It?s turned out a bit lumpy so I might try again. I?m not too worried if it goes wrong again I will just use another design and hope it turns out ok. As Barb says it?s our quilt and we can choose which design goes where! August is cut out and ready to go????
