Not too sure where to post this . But using and adapting Debbie?s bag making techniques I?ve made a small cross body bag and a zipped pouch using my own woven fabric and an inkle band for the strap. Hand woven fabric does pose a few problems but I managed to overcome them.

Fabulous! Lovely fabric too!

Hi, I have read through the May newsletter but I cannot see any projects being withdrawn. Are there any, or am I looking in the wrong place ???? thank you.
Laura replied: 30 May 23 at 13:56
It was stated on the 1st May newsletter that Daphne the Dragon (May 2021 secondary project), the Weekend Bag (returned project removed after 12 months) and the Smocked Cushion (returned project removed after 12 months) will all be taken down at the end of May. The fitted skirt from May 2021 will stay on the site as dress making projects are not removed after two years. You can find details on saving projects under the relevant heading here https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/faq

Hello, has anybody else had trouble with blocks 5&9. When making the fan shapes I couldn?t get them to a size of 3.5 inches. In the end I made part B bigger but when I put it together the fan does not meet at the points. It looks more like a windmill???? they are both the same so I will leave them like that. It?s been a learning curve.
Blodwen replied: 2 Jun 23 at 00:06
Karen I struggled too that?s why I tried again ad cut the pattern piece B larger but then still got it wrong. Linda yes I think I must practise using the scant 1/4 inch seam. I will do a practice run in future. I am learning a lot from talking to all you lovely members.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help? I?ve made up the small square bag (bamboo handles) I?ve placed the magnetic snap 4.5? from the top as per instructions. Made up the bag flap that then creates top of the bag but this does not reach the snap placed on the front despite this being placed 1.5? from the point! Have I missed something here? Thank you
Laura replied: 23 May 23 at 18:45
Yes you can post any queries here ?I just thought you might get a quicker answer from Debbie directly.

Hi I?m just putting the doll house together but a bit confused on how you sew the front outer, the 2 garden pieces & roof together. Can someone who has made it direct me please as photos not clear. Thank you
Shirley replied: 20 May 23 at 08:15
Thank you Debbie. I think I have now worked it out. I just couldn?t get which way round the front pieces had to go. I walked away & then went back. I find that usually works with the brain. I have enjoyed putting the kit together.

Has anybody done the maddies caddy download is jpg, to me it comes up to small, in the past increased 200% before printing out, and i dont get this jpg download to me it is not the same size?
Laura replied: 18 May 23 at 08:52
The finished size of the caddy is 11? x 7.5? x 3.5?so this should give you an idea of whether you have the right size printout. I think that the top and bottom pieces are cut on the fold ?hope that helps.

I've just purchased the download for the Japanese Knot Bag on DebbieShoreSewing.com. It is not a PDF with a square to measure to make sure you've printed it out right, but a .jpg. I assume you're supposed to print it out at 100% but if I try, it won't fit on my paper. I can try it on US legal sized paper, I do have some, but I feel uncertain if I am printing this out correctly. Does anyone know what to do with the downloads if there's no measurement guide?
Denise replied: 18 May 23 at 00:26
Thanks Laura! I did contact enquiries@debbieshoresewing.com and Debbie said it was meant for A4 paper and that the width of the bag on Page A should be 11 inches (which is 28 cm). I was able to get it to work properly by printing out the Japanese Knot Bag pattern pieces out at 101% on US Legal Paper. It now measures a proper 11 inches or 28 cm across. Thanks Laura and Debbie! Very excited about making this.
