Hello members. I was attracted to the style of this bag and the pattern. How you would go about getting the random shape look? By the way the stall holder gave me permission to take the photo ????
Sherry replied: 10 Nov 22 at 16:23
You could take any basic bag pattern and shape it yourself. So instead of having a straight line across the top, cut it to the curves you wanted. If you look at the March 2022 project 'Crumb Cushion' Debbie demonstrates how to achieve something similar to the crazing patchwork pattern on the bag but using smaller pieces of fabric.

I have a look alike Prym mini iron and not really happy with it. As a dry iron it?s OK but it does leak on steam also the heavy power cord is centrally placed and I find awkward. False economy ! I?m thinking of replacing it with a Prym. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you

I've just read in an early message that you can sort The Projects into skill levels. How do I do that please? I cant see it on The Projects site
Mel replied: 7 Nov 22 at 14:16
I cant find the message either, but it was fairly recent. It was a member who is fairly new and wanted to know what easy projects there are for a beginner

Hi everyone. I'm looking to make a bag for my granddaughter to keep her hairdryer & straighteners in. I know the length, what height would you make it. TIA. X
Laura replied: 4 Nov 22 at 13:00
I adapted Debbie?s drawstring bag https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/blog/live-stream-26th-february-2022-drawstring-bag to store my vacuum cleaner tools and I have just tried fitting my hairdryer and straighteners in it and they fit ok. The size I used was 15? wide by 16? long for the outer and lining and 2 lining pieces each measuring 14? x 10? for the drawstring top. I cut a 2? square when making the base to give the bag a little more depth. I hope this helps

I'm making Debbie's gnome from her YouTube channel last year. This one: https://youtu.be/BUpj0awqftY In the materials, it says the fabric for the hat should be a 20x25 cm triangle. I'm unsure if you measure the long side of the bottom down (A in my photo) or down the sides (B in my photo). Also, am I right that 20 cm is the bottom line of the triangle? Thanks! Xx

Can anyone advise me on the bust measurements on dress patterns. Does the measurement refer to the upper bust or full bust?
Anne replied: 31 Oct 22 at 21:53
I had watched this video but was still unsure. I assume that the measurement on a pattern refers to the upper bust as the full bust measurement when compared to the upper bust measurement determines your cup size. Am I correct? If not then I am a size 20!!!! Which seems quite bizarre as most of my clothes are size 12 or 14.

Hello, I?ve sewn all the pieces together to make a tree skirt from the Half Yard Christmas Book but the centre circle is tiny compared to the illustration. I followed step by step instructions. If I cut a bigger circle all the back stitching on seams will go. Can anyone tell me where I?ve gone wrong? Thank you!
Laura replied: 8 Nov 22 at 20:28
Hi Veronica?I just had a look at the pattern for the skirt in the Winter book. Did you cut the 1? off the top of the template as stated at the beginning of the instructions?I think that would affect the size of the finished circle.
