Need help please. I?m making the lip bag. Got the zip in, no problem. Got the first lining on. Sewed the 8 inch at the bottom but trying to get the second piece on my pieces don?t match up. I?m putting the second lining on the piece that already has the lining and going to seeing it together with a gap. Is that right. Thank you

I made a very useful pouch ages ago. Tracked it down to HYC sew along 28th Jan but it was not the original one. It was a vey short version, five seconds probably. Is there any way I can see this along with all the instructions please.

HYSC Thankyou so much. This is what I was searching for and just couldn?t find it. Such a brilliant and useful make, (although they all are) and I can now get making a case or maybe a few. Thanks again. Karen Thankyou also to Laurafor replying.

Hello. I am Ash. I want to sew an apron for my 13-year-old son. The pattern is called Japanese Apron. Problem is I am using fat quarters from my stash. How can I join up the pieces to make the patchwork look boyish? He'll be using it for school. I don't want his peers to pick on him. Thank you.

Thank you very much Barb. Now I am ambivalent about the zipper application re the splitting part. Please see my post for help on this in this forum. Thank you.

I'm trying to cut large piece of fabric for a tablecloth. Just a simple rectangle but no matter how I go about it, the cutting is uneven. I use a quilting ruler and rotary cutter of good quality and they work fine with smaller pieces but as soon as I'm cutting something longer than the ruler, I struggle. Please help I feel like I'm lacking a basic sewing skill.
Laura replied: 15 Sep 23 at 17:14
Have you read and viewed Debbie?s HYSC tip section on using cutting tools here https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/tips/rotary-cutting I think the main tip about cutting the selvedge off in a straight line and then using that line to square your fabric by folding and using the cutting mat and ruler grid to help was my main take away from the video. I hope this helps a little.

Hello, I am making the fold up Advent calendars and on the instructions it says ?you may quilt the top if you wish?. Does that mean making the criss cross lines across the top or sewing around the snowman , trees etc. Individually?. Thank you as always. Also, I have been a member for a couple of months now. Should I expect anything in the post or is the monthly package on here only? Thank you

I have made the pin cushion. My inspiration was a sewing machine I found in Stamford charity shop, a Jones machine circa 1901. Every year they did different decoration design so it can easily be dated. I used a canvas and wool fabric. I glued some small penny washers together that just fitted the dowel and glued them in the cup and glue the dowel through them and then placed more penny washers at the bottom of the cup before filling the same design fabric with filler into the cup. The cup was a white one that I received for a birthday with flowers in. After painting i decoupaged with some rice paper I had printed and fussy ripped out the roses and stuck them to the cup. A birthday gift that now keeps on giving in my craft room. Thank you Debbie and Kimberley for the design. Xx

Oh thank you for checking it out for me ..mine printed out at 5 1/2 inch ?thought it was a bit smaller than yours and Debbie?s ?quite sweet though (crying with laughter emoji) x
